BBQ sauce can be sweetened with some super sweet ripe peaches and spiced up with roasted jalapenos for a different kind of sweet sauce concoction.  This recipe simply came to mind with the abundance of sweet peaches we have locally and our love of roasted jalapenos as a staple condiment for all sorts of spiced up dishes.

BBQ Sauce Sweetness

I’ve been a huge fan of this sweet American sauce since as long as I can remember, but as I’ve grown up, I’ve become wise to the unhealthful aspect of this delicious condiment.  I’ve always wanted to start recreating my own BBQ sauces to avoid the super sugary or HFCS laden sauces on grocery shelves.  The beauty of using fruit as part of your sweetener is you can try lowering your sugar or sweeteners by using that great natural fructose in fruit.

Peach Season

Pay attention to when peach season hits your local area and grab up those peaches because not only are the prices much better, but they’re in huge supply and at their best!  The peak of the season is different in each state or parts of the country, so just figure out that prime time in your area and make your batch of truly natural (not just with “natural fruit flavors”…oh how I cringe reading those words on labels) fruit flavored bbq sauce for a change.

Fruit BBQ Mania

Adding different fruit to bbq sauce is all the hype when you look at boutique or gourmet food shops these days.  The good news is it’s easy enough for you to do it on your own at home and make it as sweet as you like and it won’t have the added preservatives.  Plus, you’ll impress your friends and family with your delicious sauciness for your next BBQ.

Grilled up Goodness

Try this sweet and spicy sauce with some grilled chicken on it’s own, as a unique take on BBQ chicken pizza, grilled pork tenderloin or with some homemade fries.  It’s not like other BBQ sauces but this sweet and tangy condiment will give your dish it a great unique delish kick.

Try Roasting Your Own Jalapenos

Roasting jalapenos is easy on your grill, pellet grill or pretty much any other clean burning flame or heat source. Here is our Jalapeno Roasting How To to get you started.

    • Thanks for the question, Lindsay. It makes just under 3 cups. I just changed my recipe plug-in and I think it lost that information after the switch. Hope that helps.

      • Thanks!!! My jalapeƱos are sweating as I type šŸ™‚ I’m going to can this once I’m done as I think there is enough vinegar to do a water bath. I’m just glad I found a yummy way to use up some of my abundance of jalapeƱos!!:

        • Sweating jalapenos…very nice! We also have an abundance of jalapenos from our garden now so we’ve been making a TON of Spicy Salsa Verde with them along with some tomatillos; on everything from tacos to homemade pizza to scrambled eggs. If you like spicy…so amazingly good! Recipe to be posted hopefully in the next couple weeks. Also we throw in jalapenos into our pickles for some extra heat. Home grown jalapenos are nothing like store bought as it sounds like you already know. =) Enjoy!
