You just stumbled upon the easiest bread you can make!

Place paddle attachment on Stand Mixer, properly secure mixing bowl & Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees F.

Add Flour, sugar, baking soda and coarse salt to mixer bowl, give it a quick mix just to combine.

Add cold butter to flour mixture & mix about 2 minutes, or until butter is less than pea sized.

Whisk together buttermilk, egg & orange zest.  Then add to mixer on low, just till all wet.

Fold in raisins, then add all the sticky dough to a well floured surface.

Dough will be VERY Sticky.  Transfer it to a well-floured surface.

Don't knead the dough, just bring flour toward it and roll into it, till it no longer sticks to your fingers.

Transfer to a parchment paper lined baking sheet & slice a cross on top with a knife.

Allow bread to cool on wire rack about 15 mins.

Bake 40-45 mins or until golden top and bottom.  When tapped, should sound kind of hollow.

Slice it and enjoy it while it's warm or let it cool and slice later.  Serve warm & slather on some good butter
