Homemade Taco Seasoning

This low sodium taco seasoning recipe makes 6 Tbs of Seasoning (equivalent to 3- 1 oz. packets of Taco Seasoning Mix) 2 Tbsp of this seasoning= 1 taco seasoning packet You can easily half this recipe if need be. I like to make enough to use a couple times at least.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Chili powder
  • 3 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 1/2 tsp granulated garlic powder fine too
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes crushed and ground
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 3/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • *optional-1/2 tsp cayenne pepper if you want more heat

Instructions

  • Combine all spices in a small bowl and it's ready to use.
  • Store any extra taco seasoning in a spice jar or labeled zip lock baggie. (Store at room temperature 3-4 months)

If cooking a protein like let's say ground grass-fed beef, while cooking, add about a tsp of cornstarch with 3/4 cup of water, bring to a boil and stir till it thickens slowly.
